Don’t Feel Bad For Wearing Black For Spring

One of the things I used to worry about in having a neutral style was being able to wear darker colors in warm weather. I would never wear black for Spring or Summer because it just felt like I should be celebrating the return of warm weather with my brightest colors. But if you’ve noticed anything, you know I’m not really a bright, bold color kind of girl.

I’m slowly trying to add more color to my wardrobe, but that’s a longer story for another time. And honestly neutrals are just who I am. I’m a big believer in finding your style and staying true to it. It makes life a lot easier for me to keep a wardrobe of things that all work together.

When it comes to making black work in my warm weather wardrobe, I stick to a few basic rules. Pair black pieces with lighter pieces. Try a black top with light denim or white pants. Keep accessories summery. I love to wear my rattan earrings basically all spring and summer and they work perfectly with a black top or dress. I also like to keep my shoe choice to sandals or a summery pair of slides, like my favorite woven ones.
