How to Wear Leather for Work

One of the hardest parts of dressing for work in a professional environment is finding a balance between classic business formal and trendy fashion for the office. I try to find this balance through having somewhat of my own signature style for work. I usually wear all black for work with some sort of statement necklace or bold shoe. I do this in part because it doesn’t require a lot of thought at 6 AM and also because black is slimming or at least really forgiving.

One of my favorite trends for work right now is leather. I’m just really into the idea of being kind of a badass who gets to wear leather to my really professional job. This trend does require some major discretion as to what is subtle enough for a professional setting though.

The easiest way to pull this look off is to pair a leather pencil skirt with a plain black top or tee.  This skirt is great because it’s not entirely leather; the side panels are a ponte stretch material. This just makes it a little more comfortable to wear all day sitting or running around at work. And serious bonus, this exact skirt is linked below and on crazy sale!

I live to wear my leather jacket, so I threw mine on with this look to go from work to drinks with the girls. I also like to pair a really bold heel with this look because it’s just more fun that way.
