Hello 2018! The relief of starting a new year fresh feels so good. However the 0 degree temperature in St. Louis is not feeling so great. It’s been a long, cold weekend here and I am 100% ready to go somewhere with a beach. Not to mention all the good beachwear I keep seeing online lately. But since I’m in the midwest for at least the next month, I’m going to stick with weather appropriate attire here. One of the topics I’ve been getting questions about recently has been Winter date style. How are you supposed to dress when it’s 30 (or more like 3) out?

One of my favorite looks right now has to be lace. Who am I kidding? Lace is always my favorite look. I picked up this top about a month ago for some holiday parties and have been obsessed with it. Since I love it so much, now that the holiday parties are over I need to find new ways to wear it. It’s the perfect option for date night this winter. I’m currently all about finding cute and casual outfits to wear on dates since it’s been so cold out. Another great option is this bodysuit which I’ve worn so many times lately.

An easy way to add something extra to your outfit is a pair of statement shoes. My glitter and jeweled flats were an immediate purchase the second I saw them. Who doesn’t need flats covered in glitter? Sadly the exact pair I have are sold out now, but I love them with a simple outfit like jeans and a sweater to make it feel more fun. Any statement shoe works really, not just those covered in glitter.

Another trick I use for changing up an outfit is to use a statement bag. I got this clock bag at Kate Spade years ago, another purchase I knew I had to own the second I saw it. I use it for tons of things: dates, parties, it’s become my Vegas bag, and my go-to New Year’s bag. I also have been very into big earrings lately, which is an easy, inexpensive way to mix up wearing the same outfits over and over. I found these disco ball earrings and they are now my party or night out go-to. They’re super lightweight which is a must for me.

For me, the key lately has really been about using things I already have. I’m definitely a spring and summer girl so my date style really lies in dresses and sandals. I love to mix statement pieces, especially accessories. So I can wear classic, staple outfits and make them feel completely different with subtle changes like a different purse or a fun pair of shoes.

Do you have any date style go-tos?
